Andrew Chan, MD, MPH
Andrew Chan, MD, MPH

    Dr. Andrew T. Chan is an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and an assistant in medicine in the gastrointestinal unit at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). He received his ScB magna cum laude from Brown University, his MD cum laude from Harvard Medical School, and his masters in public health from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Chan completed his internal medicine residency, chief residency, and clinical and research fellowship in gastroenterology at Massachusetts General Hospital.

    Board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, Dr. Chan is clinically active in general gastroenterology, with specific expertise in high-risk gastrointestinal cancer genetics. Dr. Chan's research interest is in the prevention of colorectal polyps and cancer. He has led numerous widely cited studies on colon cancer prevention, including the use of aspirin for chemoprevention. He was recently named a Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation Clinical Investigator and also receives grant support from the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Chan is also the associate program director for gastroenterology fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital and serves on the Clinical Practice Council of the AGA.
