Dr. Anita L. Nelson is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Nelson is staff physician at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California, and serves as Chief, Women's Health Care Programs. She is also the Medical Director of the Research Division of the California Family Health Council. Most of Dr. Nelson's research efforts have been in the areas of contraception, menopause, and gynecologic infection. She is principal investigator or investigator on several National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NIH/NICHHD) research grants as well as commercially funded studies. Dr. Nelson has published 115 peer-reviewed articles, 11 books, 48 book chapters, and 97 abstracts.
