Dr. Armand Antommaria is an assistant professor in the division of pediatric inpatient medicine and an adjunct assistant professor in the division of medical ethics and humanities at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City. He earned his MD at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and his PhD in religious ethics from the University of Chicago Divinity School. After completing a pediatrics residency at the University of Utah in 2003, Dr. Antommaria joined its faculty.
Clinically, Dr. Antommaria works as a pediatric hospitalist at Primary Children's Medical Center (PCMC) in Salt Lake City. He also serves as chair of the Medical Center's Ethics Committee. In this capacity, he helped develop PCMC's policy on donation after cardiac death. A report describing the institution's experience is forthcoming in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Antommaria and colleagues are currently completing a qualitative study of donation after cardiac death policies in children's hospitals.
