Dr. Charles van der Horst is Professor of Medicine, Associate Chief in the Division of Infectious Diseases, and Infectious Diseases Fellowship Director at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also visiting professor at the University of the Witwatersrand and University College of Dublin. Dr. van der Horst has taken care of HIV patients since 1981 and conducted HIV clinical trials since 1986. Since 2000 he has been working in Malawi and South Africa on HIV clinical trials as well as training with a focus on prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV.
