Dr. Debra Friedrich, DNP, ARNP, is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College of Nursing and Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Concentration. She is a family nurse practitioner and Clinical Lipid Specialist in practice in Bradenton, Florida. Debra was awarded Fellow of the National Lipid Association this year. Dr. Friedrich developed West Florida Lipidology, a primary care lipid clinic, within her internal medicine practice site. She presents nationally on the management of dyslipidemia and other cardiovascular disease risk factors and has several publications on clinical lipid management. In conjunction with Dr. Paul Ziajka, Debra has also done research on the use of Pitavastatin in patients intolerant to multiple other statins. Her current research program includes an examination of the association between vitamin D levels and statin induced myalgias. She plans to continue her research focusing on Vitamin D replacement and statin alternatives in patients with cardiovascular disease and statin induced myalgias.
