Dr. Edward Shorter holds the Hannah Chair in the History of Medicine at the University of Toronto in Canada. Dr. Shorter has done extensive research and writing about the history of psychosomatic illness. He received the Jason A. Hannah Medal from the Royal Society of Canada for his book, A History of Psychiatry.
