George I. Viamontes, MD, PhD, is an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of Missouri, Columbia, School of Medicine and the regional medical director for United Behavioral Health, Incorporated in St. Louis.

Dr. Viamontes has published extensively in the scientific literature, in such journals as Science, Cell, Immunogenetics, Journal of Immunological Methods, Journal of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry, Journal of Cell Biology, and Psychiatric Annals.

Dr Viamontes co-edited the April 2006 edition of Psychiatric Annals, on the neurobiology of psychotherapy, as well as the April 2007 edition on the neurobiology of the unconscious. Dr. Viamontes is active in the implementation of neural network predictive models for use in targeted disease management. He is currently preparing the book, An Atlas of Neurobiology: How the Brain Creates the Self, to be published by WW Norton.
