Guy Diamond, PhD

    Dr. Guy S. Diamond is director of the Center for Family Intervention Science at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and associate professor at Penn Medicine in Philadelphia. 

    The Center for Family Intervention Science is dedicated to the development, testing and dissemination of mental health services for adolescents and their families. Dr. Diamond's primary work has focused on the development of Attachment Based Family Therapy for depressed youth. With the support of the National Institute of Mental Health, the CDC, and private foundation funding, this model has now proven effective in four different studies. Dr. Diamond is now adapting the work to target gay and lesbian suicidal youth, patients hospital after an attempt, and youth with a history of trauma. Dr. Diamond's second line of work focuses on a web based screening systems for adolescents with suicide and or depression in primary care. He is deploying this tool in several primary care setting across the state of Pennsylvania.

    Dr. Diamond received his PhD in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. He completed a postdoctoral clinical/research psychology fellowship at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Center, as well as a postdoctoral fellowship in the department of psychiatry at Penn Medicine.
