Dr. Young is the medical director and founder of the Rochester Center for Behavioral Medicine. As the medical director of the Rochester Center for Behavioral Medicine, Dr. Young provides care to patients across the lifespan. In addition, Dr. Young is responsible for all program development and oversees RCBM’s clinical staff of more than twenty practitioners. Dr. Young attended the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He graduated with high distinction with a major in history. In 1989, Dr. Young graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He pursued his residency (1989-1993) at the University of Michigan Hospitals, where in his final year, he became adult services chief resident. Dr. Young came to Rochester in 1993, serving as the first director of the psychiatric emergency services at Crittenton Hospital. While building RCBM through these years, he also serviced as Crittenton's chief of psychiatry staff. Dr. Young maintains staff privileges at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. In addition to his patient care responsibilities, Dr. Young is Chief Medical Officer of the Clinical Trials Group at the Rochester Center for Behavioral Medicine. At any time, the clinic participates in a number of national clinical trials, usually involving ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, or dementia. Dr. Young's primary clinical interest involves the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity through the life cycle. Dr. Young also specializes in treatment-resistant depression. He has researched and published on chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. Dr. Young oversees all treatment taking place at the Rochester Center for Behavioral Medicine. Dr. Young is committed to the education of patients and mental health providers. He has given hundreds of lectures, locally and throughout the nation regarding his specialties. He is also Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. Every year, WSU's family medicine residents complete their psychiatric rotations at RCBM. In addition to clinical care, research and teaching, Dr. Young also collaborates with the NFL and MLB to evaluate professional athletes in need of psychiatric assessment.
