John Lantos, MD
    Dr. John Lantos is nationally recognized for his leadership in bioethics with a distinguished career in pediatric medicine. He is the first holder of the John B. Francis Chair in Bioethics at the Center for Practical Bioethics in Kansas City after serving as Professor of Pediatrics and Section Chief for General Pediatrics at The University of Chicago. Dr. Lantos has served as Associate Director of the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics and as co-director of the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program. Dr. Lantos is also Past-President of the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities and the American Society of Law, Medicine and Ethics. His work in bioethics covers a broad spectrum of ethical issues related to neonatal and pediatric care, life science research, organ transplantation, end-of-life decision making, physician/patient relationships and resource allocation. Dr. Lantos has published more than 150 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters and has written or edited several books in the area of medical ethics, including "Neonatal Bioethics," "The Lazarus Case: Life and Death Issues in Neonatal Intensive Care," "The Last Physician: Walker Percy and the Moral Life of Medicine," and "Do We Still Need Doctors?"
