Lauren Krupp, MD, professor of neurology, is the director of NYU Langone’s Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Comprehensive Care Center. The multi-disciplinary clinical and research program in pediatric MS at NYU Langone is one of largest and most comprehensive programs of its type in the USA. Dr. Krupp and her team perform clinical research to advance the care of individuals with MS across the lifespan including those with pediatric-onset MS as well as the elderly with MS. She assisted in the design of disease modifying therapies to halt the disease process and has focused enhancing quality of life by studying on novel ways for measuring and treating ongoing symptoms such as fatigue and cognitive difficulty. Dr. Krupp earned her MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completed her residency in neurology at Albert Einstein and Montefiore Medical Center, and completed fellowship training in neuroimmunology and MS at the National Institutes of Health. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and has specialized in MS for over 25 years having authored several books, many book chapters, and over 140 peer-reviewed publications. Her research has been supported by National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and private foundations. She has worked closely with national and international leaders in MS, is the founding chair of the International Pediatric MS Study Group and sits on the steering committee of the International MS Cognition Society. Her overarching goals are to deliver outstanding care to those with MS and to drive research to end the disease while developing more effective interventions that minimize symptoms and maximize each individual’s potential.
