Michael Sayre, MD
    Michael R. Sayre, MD, is an associate professor of emergency medicine at the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Xavier University and received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Cincinnati in 1984. Dr. Sayre completed a residency in emergency medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, and remained on the attending staff there until 1990, when he returned to Cincinnati.

    While on the faculty of the department of emergency medicine at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Sayre focused on emergency medical services and sudden cardiac arrest resuscitation. In 2003, Dr. Sayre moved to Ohio State, where he has remained active with cardiac arrest research, serving as the principal investigator for the Ohio site in the ASPIRE clinical trial of the AutoPulse CPR assist device. Dr. Sayre was also chair of the American Heart Association's (AHA) Basic Life Support Subcommittee during the 2005 Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Guidelines process, and is currently vice chair of the AHA ECC Committee, as well as the Columbus site leader for Take Heart America, of the Cardiac Arrest Survival Initiative. More recently, Dr. Sayre was the lead author of the Hands-Only CPR Scientific Advisory, first published in March, 2008.
