Richard Gibbs, PhD, is the Founder and Director of the Human Genome Sequencing Center (HGSC), the Wofford Cain Chair and Distinguished Service Professor in Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. HGSC, founded in 1996, is one of five worldwide sites selected to complete the final phase of the Human Genome Project.
Dr. Gibbs received both a Bachelor of Science and Ph.D. in genetics and radiation biology from the University of Melbourne, in Australia.
