Richard S. Finn, MD, is a professor of clinical medicine in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and the director of the Signal Transduction Program in the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCLA in Los Angeles, CA. Dr Finn received his medical degree from Keck School of Medicine of USC in Los Angeles, CA. He then completed his internship and residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in hematology/oncology at UCLA School of Medicine. Dr Finn is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.

Dr Finn currently splits his time between patient care and laboratory and clinical research. His research interests are in the development of molecular targeted agents and biomarkers in liver cancer and breast cancer. Dr Finn has served as principal and sub-investigator in trials exploring the use of targeted therapies in breast and hepatocellular cancers. He has a particular interest in identifying predictive markers of response to novel therapeutics. Dr Finn has been involved in the development of several novel therapeutics in cancer medicine. He has brought several practice changing advancements to cancer medicine.

Dr Finn is a member of ASCO, American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), and the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO). He is a past president of the International Liver Cancer Association (ILCA) and he is on the editorial board of Clinical Cancer Research.

Dr Finn has been published in many journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Lancet Oncology. He has also given oral presentations at major meetings, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), European Cancer Conference (ECCO/ ESMO), and the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR).
