Dr. Thomas Moore is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine. He is chairman of the department of reproductive medicine at University of California, San Diego, and chairs or sits on numerous policy committees within the School of Medicine and the healthcare enterprise.

At the national level, Dr. Moore is a member of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine Oversight Committee of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, treasurer of the American Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology Foundation, section editor of Creasy and Resnik's Maternal-Fetal Medicine, 6th Edition, and sits on the editorial board of the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has previously been a member of the board of directors of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Council Member of the Perinatal Research Society, and a member of the California Medical Association's Council of Scientific Affairs.

Dr. Moore has participated in two NIH Consensus Panels, one regarding cesarean section on demand and the other, fetal heart rate monitoring, as well as the International Association for Diabetes in Pregnancy Study Group Closed Consensus Forum. He is currently principal investigator for the NIH Center Grant for Women's Reproductive Health Career Development and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on the topics of fetal ultrasound, amniotic fluid volume and diabetic pregnancy. Dr. Moore has received numerous teaching awards including the APGO Excellence in Teaching Award. He has also been presented with the Humana Award for Excellence in Clinical Research and Yale Tercentennial Alumnus Achievement Award. He has been named in Best Doctors in America and Best Doctors in San Diego in each of the past eight years, and has been listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, America's Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists, BestDoctors.com, and the Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. In 2007 and 2008 respectively, he was awarded the distinction of being named a Member of the Professional Section of the American Diabetes Association and Fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.
