Travis Mickelson, MD
    Dr. Travis Mickelson was born and raised in the mountains of Northern Utah. He graduated from Weber State University with a B.S. in Zoology followed by a M.S. in Biology from University of Nevada, Reno with an interest in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation Biology. Dr. Mickelson then spent five years teaching High School Biology at a ski academy in Northern California followed by three years teaching at International Schools in Southern India and Switzerland. During his final year in Switzerland, he decided he wanted to return to school and applied for Medical School. He graduated from the University of Utah and went on to complete a residency program in Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from the University of Utah. After completing his training, Dr. Mickelson joined the Department of Pediatrics faculty and worked at Primary Children’s Hospital with the Behavioral Health Consultation service and had an outpatient clinic with a focus on children and adolescents with comorbid medical conditions. During this time, Dr. Mickelson started working one half-day a week in a busy pediatrics clinic with the Mental Health Integration (MHI) program. After five years at the children’s hospital, he took a sabbatical and moved his family to Mexico for a year. At the end of the year in Mexico, he came back to Utah and started working for Intermountain Healthcare as a full-time MHI psychiatrist and Medical Director of the MHI program. He continues to be very committed to growing the program throughout the state and participates in collaborative efforts to support the development of integrated mental health programs throughout the country.
