Zulma Yunt, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at National Jewish Health. She has been a faculty member in the Interstitial Lung Disease Program at National Jewish since 2012. Her clinical interests include idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, connective tissue disease associated ILD, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, bronchiolitis, and vasculitis. She is a co-investigator in numerous clinical research programs within the group. Dr. Yunt attended medical school at Creighton University in Omaha, NE. She completed her internal medicine residency in 2008 at Yale University. Thereafter, she moved to Denver to train in Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Colorado. During her fellowship, she led basic science investigations aimed at understanding the link between angiogenesis and pathologic lung fibrosis. She also studied the role of lung macrophages in propagating pulmonary fibrosis after acute lung injury. Dr. Yunt’s current research focuses on biomarkers in ILD, particularly Krebs von den Lungen -6 (KL-6). She is also investigating HRCT as a diagnostic tool in myositis-associated ILD and antisynthetase syndromes.
