Dr. Maurice Pickard discusses the above book with its author, who is the only Navy doctor to be decorated for valor while serving in Iraq. He had to shorten the "golden hour" in delivering care to wounded marines, so he advanced his operating room into an abandoned building in the middle of a fire fight in Fallujah. His commanding officer felt he saved the lives of 30 Marines by his bold decision to bring doctors to the patient.
