    This audio-over-slides activity was recorded at a live meeting in Short Hills, NJ on October 17, 2019, titled Heart-to-Heart Clinical Intensive: Considerations for Rhythm Control Post CABANA. The meeting included renown electrophysiologists Drs. Suneet Mittal (Valley Health System), Jagmeet P. Singh (Massachusetts General Hospital), John M. Miller (Krannert Institute of Cardiology), and Andrew E. Epstein (University of Pennsylvania). In this activity, Dr. Epstein focuses on the use of antiarrhythmic drug therapy for patients with atrial fibrillation in the post-CABANA era.     After participating in this educational activity, participants should be better able to:

    • Recognize the clinical consequences of AF including the impact of AF on hospitalizations, the implications for health care resources, and the importance of using therapies that specifically impact this outcome
    • Define the challenges associated with achieving sinus rhythm in patients with AF and the rationale for making sinus rhythm an important achievable goal in specific patient subgroups
    • Define the challenges and benefits associated with rate or rhythm control strategies in patients with AF and the therapeutic options for each strategy
    • Understand the role of catheter ablation and drug therapy for the management of AF as it relates to a variety of personalized issues, such as AF type, symptoms, age, co-morbid conditions, and patient preference
    • Employ an evidence-based approach for reducing thromoboembolic risk in patients with AF.
