    Growing up in the isolated village of Lwala, Kenya, without electricity or running water, 45 minutes from the nearest paved road and two hours from the nearest hospital, the Ochieng' brothers wanted to do something to improve lives in their community. Host Dr. Maurice Pickard welcomes Dr. Milton Ochieng', a resident at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, and his younger brother, Fred Ochieng', a third-year medical student at Vanderbilt Medical School in Nashville, Tennessee. They tell the story of how their village pooled its resources to send them to the United States for an education, and the health clinic they returned to Lwala to build. Listen in to learn about the first 18 months at the Ochieng' Memorial Lwala Community Health Center, which has served 25,000 patients at the time of this story.
