Dr. Gailen D. Marshall is professor of medicine and pediatrics, vice chair for faculty development, director of the division of clinical immunology and allergy and chief, laboratory of behavioral immunology research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Dr. Marshall received both his PhD in Immunology and MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, did internal medicine training at the University of Iowa and completed his residency, chief residency and allergy-immunology fellowship at the University of Tennessee at Memphis.

His major research interests are focused on the effects of psychological stress and environmental factors on immune responses involved in various diseases including allergic rhinitis, asthma, inflammatory bowel disease and diabetes and the immunomodulatory effects of new therapeutic agents for allergy and asthma. He has published over 100 peer reviewed articles, reviews and book chapters. He is an active speaker in regional, national and international venues. He has extensive editorial involvement with multiple journals and currently serves as editor-in-chief of the Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
