Dr. Christopher Gonzalez obtained his medical degree from the University of Iowa prior to completing his general surgery and urologic residency training with Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He is currently an associate professor with the Northwestern University department of Urology, and recently obtained his MBA degree from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He is the clinical practice director for the department, and was the Chief of Urology for the Veteran’s Administration hospital, Lakeside division, until its closure in 2006. He currently serves as the chairman for the AUA North Central Section’s Young Urologist’s Committee, and was recently selected as a member of the AUA Leadership program. Dr. Gonzalez's clinical interests include male urethral reconstructive surgery, health policy, prostate cancer screening, and minimally invasive surgery. He has published over 40 peer review manuscripts, and was awarded an NIH SPORE project pilot grant to study prostate cancer screening amongst Hispanic men. In the area of health policy Dr. Gonzalez currently works on the AUA Practice Management Benchmarking Committee. Dr. Gonzalez has an interest in international medicine and coordinates a yearly surgical relief mission (comprised of Northwestern University urologists) to such places as Honduras, China, and Morocco.
