Daniel Remick, MD

    Dr. Daniel G. Remick is professor and chair of pathology and laboratory medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Remick earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry in 1978 from the University of Minnesota - Duluth, graduating summa cum laude with honors. He obtained his MD in 1982 from Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota. He was trained in pathology at the University of Michigan, department of pathology, followed by a fellowship in immunopathology from 1984-1986.

    Dr. Remick has served as past president of the Michigan Association of Medical Examiners. Dr. Remick has published over 200 peer reviewed papers, 11 book chapters and two books. He has been an editor of the Journal of Immunology and  is an associate dditor for the journal Shock, and Microbes and Infection. Dr. Remick's research interests focus around the inflammatory response in a range of diseases, including sepsis and asthma.

    He has served as the chair of the Surgery, Anesthesiology and Trauma Study section at the National Institutes of Health and continues to participate and chair review sessions several times each year. His current work is funded by three separate R01 grants from NIH as well as a Program Project. Dr. Remick has mentored numerous graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and junior faculty members. Several of the people he has mentored have won national and international awards and currently hold academic position. In 2008 he was awarded the Shock Society's Distinguished Service Award and also was elected president of the Shock Society.
