Kathleen "Kittie" Wyne, MD, PhD, FACE

    Kathleen "Kittie" Wyne, MD, PhD, FACE joined The Methodist Hospital Research Institute (TMHRI) in Houston to coordinate their clinical research program in The Diabetes Research Center. Dr. Wyne earned her medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago. After serving a residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, she completed her fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Wyne is Board Certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and in Clinical Lipidology. Her current research interests are related to the role of inflammation and lipid metabolism in the etiology of diabetes and hypertension. She is specifically interested in studying people at high risk for diabetes, with a goal of developing strategies to prevent diabetes. Ongoing clinical studies include developing strategies to facilitate weight loss in young adult Latino women, evaluating the role of glucose lowering in the development of CV events, and studying the impact of modulating the incretin system on the progression of fatty liver disease. Dr. Wyne has participated in a number of basic science and clinical research projects and is a member of several professional medical associations and is the past President of both the Texas AACE chapter and of the Southwest Lipid Association.
