Paul Stricker, MD

    Dr. Paul Stricker is one of just over 100 doctors in the US who are board certified in both pediatrics and sports medicine.  He was an All-American swimmer at the University of Missouri-Rolla, and attended medical school at University of Missouri-Columbia.  He completed pediatrics at Arkansas Children's Hospital and a sports medicine fellowship at UCLA, and is now enthusiastic about young people having a positive experience with sports and exercise.  He was team physician for UCLA and Vanderbilt University.  His involvement with USA Swimming started in 1988 and with the USOC in 1992, leading to many years of team coverage for World Championships, World University Games, Pan Pacific Championships, and Olympic Trials.  Dr Paul reached a unique and coveted position when he was selected by the Olympic committee as a physician for the United States team and aquatic sports at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

    Dr. Stricker is still a dedicated athlete and nationally competitive Masters swimmer with several Top 10 times over the years.  He is the Past-President of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics' Council on Sports Medicine & Fitness and editorial Board member for Healthy Children magazine.  He has been selected as one of America's Top Pediatricians and America's Best Doctors. Dr. Stricker has authored numerous medical publications and a new book entitled Sports Success Rx!-Your Child's Prescription for the Best Experience, which won an award from the Midwest Independent Publishers Association.  He has been cited in such national publications as US News & World Report, USA Today, parenting magazines, and has been featured on many television programs discussing ways to increase activity and decrease sports pressure for children and teenagers.  He currently resides and has his medical practice in San Diego, CA, at Scripps Clinic, an internationally recognized multi-specialty medical group and clinical research institution.
